ESDGC
Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship

Climate change, poverty, conflict and consumer pressure are all part of our world today. Education for sustainable development and global citizenship (ESDGC) seeks to find ways to raise awareness and action to address the consequences of our lifestyle choices and prepare us for sustainable  living in the 21st century as global citizens.

Jane Hutt Minister for Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills January 2008

iEARN UK has a firm commitment to the delivery of ESDGC through our programme of projects and activities.  Our direct links with young people around the world allows first hand contact with a huge range of cultures and lifestyles.

How Big is Your Eco-Footprint?

These assignments were developed in collaboration with ADT and funded by DCELLS and NGfL Cymru.  They are designed to link the delivery of ESDGC with skills development.  The current version is mapped to the 2004 Key Skills but the assignment has been "future proofed" and also meets the requirements of the 2008 Essential Skills Wales standards.

The assignment was piloted by staff and learners at ADT.  All ADT staff received one days training on ESDGC from iEARN UK to support them in the delivery of the programme.
