The Global Teenager project allows young people to work together on a structured programme to explore themes that affect us all.

The project runs twice a year, September to December and February to May.  During the project your group will be linked with their peers in up to a dozen countries, working together on-line .  You need to make a commitment of at least one hour per week for the whole project.

Circles are available at three levels: Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced and in English, French, Spanish and Arabic.  To see examples of recent topics click on the links below.

GTP was a great opportunity for my students to have real interaction with students from completely different backgrounds. It was amazing to see them getting very interested in the project. It has been one of the most positive experiences I had since all students learnt a great deal about each others culture and other ways of living.

International Learning Circles

The powerhouse behind the Global Teenager project is the Learning Circle, a proven concept created by Margaret Riel. Learning Circles are virtual environments for intercultural exchange and learning. Twice a year, under professional guidance, groups of 8 to 12 teams from all over the world form a Learning Circle by linking up via e-mail or World Wide Web. New communication tools such as web blogs, wikis and chats are used as well. The discussions in the circles are conducted in English, French, Spanish, German, and Arabic.

 

The teacher plays a key role in the process. The classes select a theme from

a shortlist of topics such health, environment, human rights, globalisation

or simply My Life. For the next 10 weeks the pupils in each Learning Circle

communicate via email or wikis on that one topic, using a structured programme.

 

Inclusive

Although the Global Teenager project initially started as a project designed just for high school students, the project has now expanded and also includes all ability learners aged 9 to 18. Global Teenager

offers a place to learn for all.
